A large lidded bowl from the 'Harlekiini' (Harlequin) series designed by Nanny Still in 1958 for Riihimäen Lasi Oy, Finland.

Demonstrating Still's confident sense of form & masterful application of colour, the 'Harlekiini' series elevated her career to new heights in the late 1950's and has become an enduring symbol of Finnish Modernism.

The full 'Harlekiini' collection includes around 24 elements such as decanters, jugs and jars, with each piece composed from precise geometric shapes in a vibrant turquoise hue.

This lidded bowl is the larger of the two sizes produced. Constructed from a sequence of cones and spheres and topped with a clear glass ball, the piece has a strong architectural presence while remaining playful and vibrant in character. As part of Still’s Harlekiini collection, it is equally decorative and functional, and ideally suited to storing sweets or small treats in an unapologetically bold style.
