Kaj Franck KF 268 Conical Vase

A substantial hand-blown vase designed by Kaj Franck for Nuutajärvi Notsjö, Finland. 

Kaj Franck's work is strongly associated with functional geometry and essential forms. This heavy piece of cased glass features an elegant tapered form with thick, exaggerated foot. The pontil mark has been ground & tunnelled deep into the base, creating a play of light. 

The piece was designed in 1960 and produced for 8 years. This vase is dated 1961, making it an early example.
