Walter Bosse Vessel
A square-form vessel designed by Walter Bosse and produced in Vienna, Austria, by Herta Baller c.1950.
Although Walter Bosse is best known for his playful brass animal figurines, he also designed a range of stylish trays and decorative bowls that reflect the softened geometry and sleek character of 1950's modernist design.
Handmade in Vienna to the highest standard, this versatile vessel, likely designed as a mortar, can just as easily serve as a stylish holder for pens, jewellery, coins, or other everyday items. The square, tapering form with high walls and rounded edges has been patinated in the traditional Viennese manner, while polished brass highlights lend a striking decorative contrast.
