An adorable stylised pig, sculpted to incorporate a small bowl in its back. This Modernist pig object was designed in the early-1950s by Walter Bosse and produced in the same period by Herta Baller, Vienna, Austria.

Standing firmly on four legs, this vide-poche, or open pocket, could be used in a variety of ways.

The small bowl could keep safe your rings whilst you cook, the dish could accommodate a candle or boiled egg, or why not have this sumptuous object as your dining table salt cellar -a salt pig!

Like all Herta Baller produced pieces, the manufacture of this solid brass ornament displays such finesse in its expertly cast form, black patination, and hand finishing. The eyes are drilled with the exact precision required to bring to life Bosse’s model and the areas with polishing back to the golden-yellow brass are also done with exacting standards and restraint.
