Walter Bosse Owl Bottle Stopper
A brass bottle stopper in the form of an owl, designed by Walter Bosse and produced by Herta Baller, Vienna, Austria, c.1950.
Bosse is well-known for his finely modelled brass animals, which are among the most collected works of mid-century Viennese design. When these miniature sculptures become useful objects, they are elevated as design objects, brilliantly uniting Bosse's artistry with functionality.
Here, a stylised owl serves as a practical bar accessory, perched neatly above a natural cork stopper. Its perfectly formed black-patinated body is offset by polished golden-brass eyes.
