Walter Bosse Elephant Corkscrew
A vintage 1950's corkscrew in the form of a baby elephant, designed by Walter Bosse and produced by Herta Baller.
The baby elephant perfectly captures the wit and whimsy of Bosse's animal designs. The little figure is full of character: its large ears and a joyously outstretched trunk give it an irresistibly playful expression. It is this ability to combine humour with functional design that makes Bosse's objects so appealing.
Like many of Bosse's best designs, this little elephant is ergonomic and perfectly usable, as well as playful. The elephant is solid sand-cast brass, while the corkscrew itself is made from steel. Most of the figure is black-patinated, with the tips of its ears and toes polished back to reveal the golden yellow of the brass.
