This carafe is one of Tamara Aladin's earliest works, dating from the beginning of her career in 1959. The introductory design not only conveys Aladin's initial want to blur the limitations between functional & decorative objects, but also shows clearly her intrinsic & playful affiliation with geometry; attributes so greatly associated with Aladin's entire portfolio.

This early object consists of a tall cone atop a sphere. The elegant handle has been applied by hand, and the whole object handmade from attractive steel-blue glass.

The carafe's delicate form indicates a subtlety within Aladin's initial works for Riihimäki, yet conveys clearly her popular design ethos of bold geometry and colour.
