Richard Rohac Candle Holder
An elegant candle holder designed by Richard Rohac and handmade in Vienna, c.1950.
Taking influence from both Art Deco and 1950's Modernism, Richard Rohac's work bridges the gap between these two distinct styles. His use of geometry is reminiscent of 1930's Art Deco metalworks, yet it comes without over-stylisation; his designs are paired-back & understated, echoing the prevailing Post-War aesthetic.
This candlestick exemplifies Rohac’s ability to balance form and function with quiet grace. Although modest in scale, it commands attention through its pleasing & perfectly proportioned silhouette - composed of simple circles and cylinders. This tactile & useful object has been black-patinated & accented with polished brass in the typical Viennese fashion.
