A Per Lütken 'Dråbevase' (Drop vase), designed for Holmegaard in 1955.

Quite easily one of Per Lütken's most recognisable designs, the Dråbevase is an organic form conveyed with softness and restraint. Its body swells outwards from a small base, giving the vase its distinctive rounded, inflated form.

More commonly seen in smoke or sapphire glass, this example is in Holmegaard's brilliant Majgrøn, or "May Green". The vibrant colour brings a particular decorative quality to the beautifully curved, restrained form of the vase.

Each Dråbevase was individually formed by hand, resulting in subtle variations in shape and proportion between examples. This vase is model 15470, one of a series of four sizes produced by Holmegaard.
