Nils Kähler Bulbous Ochre Glaze Table Light
A large table lamp by Danish ceramicist Nils Kähler, dating from the 1960s.
Handmade in stoneware by the renowned family workshop HAK Kähler, the lamp is distinguished by its unusually generous, bulbous form and richly hued yellow-ochre glaze. The substantial silhouette, thrown in two halves, gives the piece an impressively strong presence.
The warm, vibrant yet earthy gloss glaze lends the lamp a distinctly decorative character. Its rich ochre surface shifts between oranges and yellows, with areas of thick, treacle-like brown gathering around the rim, creating depth and variation across the form.
