Inkeri Toikka Mallet-Shaped Flower Vase

A stout, geometric vase with flared mouth, designed by Inkeri Toikka (partner to Oiva Toikka), for Nuutajärvi Notsjö, Finland.

Designed around 1975, this distinctive vessel has an unusual form, reminiscent of an antique mallet-shaped wine bottle whose neck has been dramatically widened and flared at the rim.

Despite its unconventional silhouette, the form is highly practical. The broad, tapering mouth naturally spreads and supports flower stems, making the vase particularly well suited to a generous bouquet.

When empty, the dark grey-blue glass emphasises the strong silhouette and geometry of the design, giving the vase a sculptural presence in its own right.
