A vintage 1940s Danish foot stool, or occasional seat, in richly coloured teak and natural paper cord. The square frame of this substantial stool with stunning proportions is made entirely of solid wood whilst the seat has been woven anew with Danish paper cord.

With its confident thick proportions, chamfered edges and wooden plugs, this object is inspired by master cabinet makes such as Rudolph Rasmussen, Andreas Jeppe Iversen, and Jacob Kjaer. However, ‘inspired’ is the key word as we believe this item is an apprentice piece. Clues to this end, include the fact that the object uses reclaimed wood and is very much over engineered for its intended purpose.

Being of solid wood and a good age means the furniture has great character. The timber used thought is visually interesting due to its grain and age-related wear & patina.

Although the apprentice responsible for this stool made mistakes along the way, the finished article is a success. This is evidenced by the stool lasting the test of time -both physically and stylistically.
